My father joined the Foreign Service. The Foreign Service is a job where people go into different countries to spread goodwill and work for our government. My dad moved to Washington DC to start his training in November. Flag Day is the ceremony when the State Department tells you where your first assignment will be.
Flag Day was late in the afternoon so we had whole day to think about it. We went into a big room with chairs lined up. My dad sat in the front and we sat in the back. There was a Smart board that showed a flag for a country, they called out the country and the person who was assigned to that country. My dad was about the 10th person called and the country that was called for us was the Dominican Republic.
Here is some stuff I know about the Dominican Republic...
1. They have the oldest Catholic Church in the Americas.
2. They have the beach and the mountains.
3. It`s 80 degrees all year.
4. The language most spoken in the Dominican Republic is Spanish.
We leave for Santo Domingo in August, but first we have to move to DC.

Wow Gabriel the Dominican Republic! Sounds pretty neat. Are you going to start learning Spanish soon? They have beaches there so I bet you and your family are happy about that :)
